SEO for Time Sensitive Pages

Time sensitive data is always difficult to deal with, especially if you are running a blog or site that is based around information or products that are only searched for once a year. Holiday blogs and sites are some of the first things that come to mind for time sensitive information. Ranking number one for the search term Christmas decorations doesn't do much good in August if you fall to page two in October, November, and early December. Ticket vendors also know the trials and tribulations all too well when they have a limited number of time to sell tickets, and they're competing with a large crowd on the SERPs.

When to Switch Focus 

A client of Page One Power is based out of New York and sells tickets to all kinds of events, but he wanted his landing pages for the Super Bowl and The US Open (tennis), and to rank highly. Rather than split up our man power and offer weaker results for both, we focused on building relevant, keyword heavy links for The US Open (which happens in late summer) after the Super Bowl finished. Once the US Open got under way we shifted our focus to getting links on NFL related sites pointing back to the Super Bowl landing page. Granted, this works well for us because the two events happen far apart from one another and we have enough time to get their rankings up. Not everyone has such luxury.

Don't Wait Too Long 

Yes, they might be lyrics found in almost every teenage angst song from the late 90s, but seriously, don't wait too long before ranking up the link building and SEO efforts. Some people think that waiting until a few weeks are left before the event (when sales and searches are typically highest) is the best time to strike because you can jump pages with a few quality links. However, this strategy only works somewhat predictably with long tail keywords and uncompetitive niches. In a competitive niche, the keywords are much harder to rank for and if you aren't already near the top, your last minute SEO efforts could easily be overshadowed by sites with a stronger SEO campaign. Google's crawlers don't scan over your site every day either, so it can take longer than you think for some of those great backlinks to start bumping you up the SERPs.

Keep Conditioning During the Off-Season

Just because there are no NFL games from February to September doesn't mean the players sit on the couch all day and relax. Athletes keep their bodies primed and in top condition in order to keep their edge and your site should follow the same example. Don't shut down a Valentine's Day url just because it is March 1st. Keep the site up and active with ways for people to request notifications, place orders, or to post a little blurb every so often. Once that special time of year gets closer, turn up the heat and bring the simmer to a boil. This helps you to keep a high ranking if you've earned one, or gives you the option to do some light link building throughout the year to gain an advantage.

SEO for time sensitive pages can be tricky. You don't want to waste your efforts on ranking for keywords that no one will be searching for anyway; that'd be like trying to sell wine to a vineyard. But care needs to be taken in order to ensure that you can and will rank highly when you want to.

Embed Picasa Gallery in Blogger

Some people asked me for showing Picasa albums in a page of Blogspot, and in my latest template that made for customer, he requested the same. So in this post, I will show you the way to embed Picasa Gallery in Blogger by using Jquery Picasa Gallery. This plugin is writen by Alan Hamlett at http://ahamlett.com .

1,Go to this website: http://ahamlett.com/jQuery-Picasa-Gallery/ Download the zip or tar file. Then extract them. You will see files :
jquery.picasagallery.css
jquery.picasagallery.js
and a document name Fancy box.

2,If you have a private hosting, you can host files above in your own host.

3, If you do no own  a hosting ,you can embed scripts and css into template file by using tips in this post : Unlimited hosting for blogger

4, Open template file, then add lines as bellow :

If you have no hosting and follow step3, you can skip this step.

5, Save template file and upload to your host.

6, Go to Blogger Dashboard -> Create a pages . You can name it whatever you want . In my case, I choose "photo gallery"

7, In editor window , choose HTML mode ,then add the code bellow into content :

Replace alan.hamlett in code above with your Picasa username . Save page and back to your blog to see result. When you click on photo gallery page ,you will see all public albums in picasa will be shown , you can click on each album and view the image with effect from FancyBox.

Download page is now live

After a long time working and test, Download Page is now live in SimplexDesign blog. You can access through the link in top navigation bar or through this address :  

http://templates.thesimplexdesign.com/

This page will keep you up to date to all changes made with SimplexDesign templates , all new templates or bug fixed. All files here automatically sync with files in my computer, and refresh every minute. So updating template is not a nightmare anymore.

Another thing should be notice here : if you see only one files or more when visiting this page, maybe it's in updating time. Refreshing again and you will see them in full.

At this time, there are some templates uploaded to this Download page. It will take time for all Simplex templates because I have to test them all again.
For templates uploaded, I integrated all scripts into templates files, so you don't need to worry about finding hosting provider for script or website downs because of 110mb.com.
In the future, I will make two editions for each templates . One comes with all script and image files so you can host yourself , and one comes with all scripts integrated in template file. This was my idea before but it will take time to become reality.

Lauren Freeman, President of the e-tailing group (a niche e-commerce consultancy), published a white paper to share the findings of consumer rationale for using chat. Studies were undertaken to determine the "who, what, where and why" behind consumers' choosing to use an online chat feature. Online retailers have much to be gained by implementing the best of the live chat experience into their business.
It can be concluded that the six core reasons online shoppers choose to use live chat are multi-faceted:

1.    Shoppers feel special and empowered when they use live chat

Strong expressed strong feelings of appreciation for chat's availability to solve a problem when sought on their own terms. Knowing their problems and/or questions matter and that help is conveniently available is significant for many of the shoppers interviewed.

2.    Shoppers can multi-task when chatting

Busy online shoppers embrace technology that saves them time; freeing them up to accomplish other things. Live chat uniquely puts shoppers in a position to problem solve while still focusing on other tasks at hand. Not having to stray from their computers or pick up the phone (especially in a work environment) were significant reasons chat was favored.

3.    Chat provides instant gratification – getting questions answered in a timely fashion

For access any time of the day or night, live chat is hard to beat. These shoppers seek immediate answers to any and all questions and "get it done in 5 minutes versus having to call or go to a store." Ultimately, the less time spent dealing with specific issues means more time for shoppers to do something else of their choosing.

4.    Chat works in multiple scenarios from simple service questions to complex product queries

Pre-order benefits are varying as the information gathered beforehand not only answers a question but saves having to return products. Alternatively, post-order lends itself to a different set of questions that can be just as valuable for saving time. Queries might seek general information but also benefit shoppers addressing processing challenges, returns and even post-purchase support.
Speed, efficiency and an ability to utilize live chat for almost every issue imaginable cannot be under-estimated. From basic service concerns to questions on the most complex of products including high ticket merchandise, all seem to be fair game for consumers.

5.    Chat allows consumers to avoid inconvenient or annoying alternative methods

The individuals that were interviewed outlined a multitude of reasons why chat is their preferred form of communication with the retailers they shop. Instantaneous responses in real-time are much preferable to the wait time of alternative email or phone options.

6.    Chat is like "good old-fashioned" customer service

Several respondents suggested that, "chat is like having a salesperson right there when you need them — and not (right there) when you don't." These chat interactions reinforce that retailers actually have people in place who understand the product and have valuable information to impart. This harkens back to times prior to this technological age when such knowledge was the rule of retail.
These key insights gained from consumers that appreciate a positive live chat experience should be taken into consideration for every retailer's growth strategy.
•    Your live chat feature should be easy to find and easy to use.
•    Be sure that your customers are treated with intelligence.
•    Be helpful and don't make the mistake of using chat technology as playing the role of a pushy salesperson.
Incorporate the best of traditional customer service interactions into your live chat feature to create a positive customer experience, enhance your company's reputation and foster customer loyalty.
